The Accounting Associate is responsible for executing daily, weekly, and monthly accounting tasks and activities. The Accounting Associate will work with to the Controller, CFO and COO and is expected to maintain and develop accounting principles, practices, and procedures to ensure accurate and timely financial reporting.

The Accounting Associate is responsible for executing daily, weekly, and monthly accounting tasks and activities. The Accounting Associate will work with to the Controller, CFO and COO and is expected to maintain and develop accounting principles, practices, and procedures to ensure accurate and timely financial reporting.

Primary Responsibilities:

RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES:
• Apply a thorough understanding of the financial reporting and general ledger structure • Assist the Controller and CFO in ensuring accurate and timely monthly, quarterly, and year-end financial reporting
• Respond to inquiries from the Controller, COO and CFO regarding financial results, special reporting requests, etc.
• Assist in development and implementation of new procedures and features to enhance the workflow of the department
• Maintain financial security by maintaining internal controls
• Protect organization's value by maintaining confidentiality of information
• Promote effective cross-functional collaboration by maintaining open lines of communication and proactively sharing new ideas and information
• Maintain a positive mindset and foster a strong team mentality Specific areas of responsibility include, but are not limited, to the following:
• Accounts receivable / invoicing • Purchasing / vendor management
• Cash flow management/payment processing and reporting • Payroll and related reporting
• Collections and reporting
• Cost and asset control
• Bank and account reconciliations
• Financial reports
• Some Human Resources responsibilities

Qualifications (required)

Education BA/BS ( or working toward a degree) in Accounting or Finance or Business Management with an emphasis in Accounting required; CPA is a plus. Technical Skills and Experience
• Strong understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
• Nonprofit accounting experience is a plus. • Experience with QuickBooks is a plus.
• Advanced experience in MS Office, especially Excel. • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Analytical and strategic thinker - consistently looking for ways to increase efficiency and improve processes.
