Excitement filled the air as we officially cut the ribbon on JA BizTown presented by Meta, opening the doors to an unforgettable, hands-on learning experience for Newark’s students!

The event marked the beginning of a new chapter for young learners, as fifth graders from John Clem Elementary became the first to step into their roles as CEOs, bank tellers, city officials, and business owners—running their own town for the day.

The energy was contagious, especially when our JA BizTown Mayor shook hands with Newark Mayor Jeff Hall, a moment that symbolized the connection between today’s students and the community leaders they could one day become.

JA BizTown is an interactive, simulated economy where students learn how businesses operate, manage their personal and business finances, and collaborate to keep their town running smoothly. The program blends classroom learning with a real-world experience that sparks confidence and career curiosity.

Thanks to Meta’s support, the new Meta shop inside JA BizTown introduces students to the world of data centers, technology, and social media, inspiring them to think big about future careers in tech and business. This unique opportunity allows students to see themselves in industries they may not have otherwise considered, helping them build critical skills for the future.
